Because I am single, and had no partner to plan anything for my birthday, I boldly asked friends to create a surprise party for me. (How cheeky, yes? Indeed. But I was confident my friends would like me to feel happy.) I requested only “friends and a GAPS cake in one room at the same time”.
Boy, did they deliver!
They used this blog page to find recipe ideas by me and others. One created divine brownies with cashew-based icing. Another created a Goddess Cake – watermelon and other fruit crafted carefully into a very detailed naked bosom! (Trust my friends to come up with this!) There was also pear sauce, veggies and fruits…A GAPS banquet! Oh my!
These folks shocked me with their resourcefulness and creativity. Their successes made me realize that GAPS is simply not beyond any willing person! (It’s also been nice to, on several occasions now, see non-GAPSers trying GAPS foods and delighting in those.)
Many thanks to my awesome pals! You so made my day!

So cool, Baden. What great friends! Is it possible you’re a Janbabe too? I personally feel it’s the only month in the year worth being born in.
With the usual admiration,

That’s great to hear, Baden. I, too, love to hear friends and family ask for recipes–such as our lentil salad. Also, we hosted family for Christmas this past year, to help keep the menu on track for myself and my kids. The family raved about the food–it was delicious! They even commented that we should open up a restaurant, like Moosewood. A high compliment indeed!
Best wishes,
Stephanie
