Please note that most of the recipes linked to below are based on the book Breaking the Vicious Cycle by Elaine Gottschall. For GAPS, Dr Campbell-McBride limits the range of legumes (beans) further than Gottschall did. For an exploration of the differences between that which BTVC and GAPS presents, click here.

And…
My body happens to love raw and plant-based stuff, so I also use and adapt a lot of recipes from the books:
Raw Foods for Busy People by Jordan Maerin – If you find yourself missing black beans, try Jordan’s “Refried Almonds”. Also, a truly amazing ice cream replacement is Jordan’s “Whipped Cashew Delight”.
The Thrive Diet by Brendan Brazier – I love his Sunflower Seed Beet Pizza, Walnut Burger (for which I replace the hemp seed with sesame seeds), Pecan Burger, etc.

No More Crohn’s has some great recipes! Thanks for this, Baden.
Are fennel, sesame seeds and tahini allowable on GAPS? I just found some amazing recipes with these ingredients that i would like to try out!! Thanks
Hi Kasia,
You can find out the answers to these and almost any other question here.
All my best,
Baden
I am having a difficult time finding fresh sardines, mackerel, or herring for making fermented fish. Will any other types of fish work with Dr. McBrides recipe?
Zelda
Hi Zelda,
To be honest, I don’t know for sure! Hopefully other readers will reply below. Otherwise, I suggest you ask this excellent question on the support list.
All my best,
Baden
Thanks!!
What is GAPS…what do the letters stand for?
Hi Cindy,
GAPS stands for Gut And Psychology Syndrome.
All my best,
Baden
