Hi Sarah,

In your GAPS Guide book, please see pages 87-88. There you will note that vomiting during initial die-off is very common and should pass shortly. Please follow the tips provided in that section.

Especially during vomiting, it is critical to keep them hydrated. In that vein, please also see this post.

All my best,
Baden

Both my children woke in the middle of the night vomiting from one day on the intro diet. I cannot find any minimizing die off tips on this site or in the book. Both had bright yellow vomit, has anyone else seen this? Should I be juicing for them already? So lost...

Hi Kelly,

Reactions to dietary changes and die-off can be extremely intense, but it is also always possible that something not related to diet is going on, and that needs to be ruled out.

You can certainly return to a standard diet while ruling out any medical issues, then transition to GAPS slowly, as suggested in GAPS Guide, pages 28-34. (Note that even in this case, die-off from intro done eventually will still likely be intense. Recommendations for minimizing die-off are in the book and on this website.)

All my best,

Baden,

I'm wondering if I need to go back to my normal diet and wean into the gaps diet. This seems pretty severe reactions given such a short time on gaps and no probiotics.

Is there a cheaper substitute I could use to get electrolytes? It doesn't have to be really strong, just to keep hydrated and flush out toxins. I am going to try the celery juice, but would adding lemon and salt to filtered water be good enough? If so, what are the ratios? I'm not talking about something for after a workout, just something beneficial to overall health.
